How it works

The color is the challenge.

It sounds simple. It is not.

Logo Loads

In Hard mode the logo starts grayscale. You get a one-second flash of full color before it fades. That's your only clue.

Pick a Color

A 5×5 grid appears. Columns shift the hue, rows shift the lightness. The brand's exact color is hiding in there somewhere.

Lock It In

Tap to select, then hit Lock It In. After your first tap you have 3 seconds before it auto-submits. Don't overthink it.

Score and Streak

Nail it and score 100 points. One step off still gets you 65. Build a streak for bonus points across 5 rounds.

What makes hue? different

NOT MULTIPLE CHOICE.

You don't pick from four brand names. You pick from 25 shades of the same color. That's the whole game.

The Color Grid

Every round builds a 5×5 grid centered on the brand's exact color. Columns shift the hue left and right, rows shift the lightness up and down. Find the one that matches.

Hard vs Easy

Hard mode grays out every logo. You get one second of color before it fades and the grid appears. Easy mode keeps the logo visible and drops the grid to 4×4. Your call.

Proximity Points

Miss by one step and still walk away with 65 points. Two steps earns 30. The grid shows you how close you were after every guess, so you can actually learn something.

Unlock System

You start with sports and food. Finish a game and earn a new category. Soccer and US States unlock one at a time as you keep playing.

Flags and States

Name the exact red on the French flag. Pick out Iowa's state color. Over 80 world flags and US state flags available as bonus categories once you unlock them.

QUESTIONS?

Is hue? a separate app?

Nope. hue? is built into the brand! app. Download brand! on iOS or Android and both games are already there waiting for you.

How is hue? different from brand!?

brand! asks you to identify a brand from its colors and blurry logo. hue? flips that around. You already see the brand name, but you have to find the exact shade from a grid of 25 similar colors. It's a different kind of hard.

What is Hard mode vs Easy mode?

Hard mode shows every logo in grayscale. You get one second of full color before it fades to gray and the grid appears. Easy mode keeps the logo in full color and uses a smaller 4×4 grid. Hard is the way it's meant to be played.

How does scoring work?

Exact match is 100 points. One step off gets you 65. Two steps gets you 30. Build a streak of exact guesses and you earn a bonus on each one. Each game is 5 rounds by default, or 10 if you switch it in Settings.

What categories are included?

NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, Food and Drink, and World Flags all start unlocked. Soccer and US States unlock as you play, one category per completed game for your first two games.

Can I request a brand or flag be added?

Yes. Use the Logo Request link in the footer or the form in the brand! app Settings panel. All brand content is used for educational color reference only and belongs to its respective owners.
