brand! ("we," "us," or "our") is a color and logo quiz game published by Ruin Games. This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you use the brand! mobile app (available on iOS and Android) or visit brandguess.com, how that information is used, and the choices you have.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not require you to create an account to play. The game is designed to be as privacy-light as possible while supporting free access through advertising.

2. Data We Collect

Data you provide

brand! does not require registration, login, or any form submission to play. We do not directly collect your name, email address, or any personally identifiable information during normal gameplay.

If you submit a logo request or removal request via the in-app form or website, you voluntarily provide your name and email address for the purpose of processing that request. This information is used solely to respond to your request and is not added to any marketing list.

Data collected automatically

When you use the app or visit our website, certain information is collected automatically:

  • Device type, operating system version, and app version
  • General geographic region (country or city level, not precise location)
  • App usage events such as game sessions started, rounds completed, and settings changes
  • Crash reports and performance data to help us fix bugs

Data stored locally on your device

The app stores certain preferences locally on your device — this includes your selected categories, game settings, and first-visit state. This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us.

3. Advertising & Third-Party Services

brand! is free to play and is supported by advertising. We use Google AdMob to serve ads. AdMob may collect and use data to show you relevant ads, including:

  • Advertising ID (IDFA on iOS, GAID on Android)
  • App activity data such as interactions with ads
  • Device information and IP address
  • Coarse location derived from IP address

iOS App Tracking Transparency

On iOS, the app will ask for your permission before accessing your device's Advertising Identifier (IDFA). If you decline, you will still see ads — they will simply be less personalized. You can change this permission at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.

  • Android: Settings → Google → Ads → Delete advertising ID
  • iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → toggle off brand!
  • Web: Visit adssettings.google.com

Font and icon libraries

The website loads fonts from Google Fonts and icons from Font Awesome via CDN. These services may log your IP address as part of serving these files.

4. How We Use Data

We use the data described above to:

  • Operate and improve the game and website
  • Diagnose crashes and technical issues
  • Understand how players interact with the game
  • Serve advertising through AdMob to support free access
  • Respond to logo requests or removal requests you submit

We do not use your data for email marketing, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating and improving brand!.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We share limited data only in the following circumstances:

  • Google AdMob — receives data necessary to serve and measure ads
  • Legal requirements — if required by law or court order
  • Business transfer — in the event of a merger or acquisition

6. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal data. Because brand! collects minimal personal data and stores most data locally on your device, most rights can be exercised directly:

  • Game preferences — clear app data or uninstall the app to remove locally stored preferences
  • Advertising ID — reset or delete your Advertising ID through your device settings
  • Logo request data — contact us to request deletion of information you provided via a logo request

For California residents (CCPA), EU/UK residents (GDPR), or other applicable jurisdictions, please contact us to exercise your rights. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.

7. Children

brand! is rated for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

8. Data Retention

We retain crash reports and aggregate usage analytics for a maximum of 26 months. Data collected by AdMob is subject to Google's own retention policies. Logo request information is retained only as long as necessary to process the request and is deleted within 90 days of resolution.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of brand! after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
